59 windshield fitment

hi im a time served windshield fitter from england , I am obsessed with my 63 country sedan, l am always on the galaxie section on these great forums .. that's my intro lol.

I just wondered if there are any tips on fitting . do I string in from top and bottom from middle out or do from side or all four corners. any help is appreciated.

thanks , mark , england

Re: 59 windshield fitment

Looks like it may go in the same way my 59 Elky goes in.

Not sure on the Ford--but on my Chevy the headliner needs to be released and pulled down in the front for access (but my trim is all installed after the glass is in).

Work the top of the glass out very gently----might even be a good idea to go ahead and get a new windshield rubber.

I have never been able to remove the glass without it cracking unless I just cut the window rubber away.

When it goes back in

Seat the bottom first----gently coaxing the lower side corners into place.
Once the bottom and sides are in---the top part will pull in pretty easy with just a bit of tapping to get it to seat.
