It's a bit labor intensive, but it's hard to know exactly how much to cut. If you cut too much, you need to get new springs, so try cutting 1/2 coil (at most, 1/4 coil at a time would be better). After cutting and reinstalling, make sure to drive around for probably 5-10 miles so the suspension can settle to its new ride height. Repeat if necessary.
I ended up taking 1 1/2 coils or so off my car. I had just bought stock replacement springs supposedly for a car with A/C but it sat high with something like 2" between the wheels and body. It took several rounds of cut-and-try, but the end result is perfect IMO.
