dropping a new 408 cleveland in 68 ranch

Well the old Cleveland was getting tired so we dropped a new 408 Cleveland in the 68 ranch along with a slipper clutch and big spline toploader,best 1\4 last time out 11.68 hope to be in low 11's with new combo

Beautiful truck! Knowing as much as you must, maybe you will answer a question: my thread is right below yours! Just picked up a nice '72, with 2bbl. Cleveland, not sure yet about trans, small, deep square oil pan all I could see in the parking lot, looks like FX, or FMX. Not important.

What basics should I know before considering putting my last Motorsports 5.0L HO eng. in this Ranchero? Undecided yet on trans., whether late electronic or AOD, but WILL have O/D.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance! imps

BTW: How do you keep enough traction on yer rears? Extra weight? And, do you use 9"? Spool? 4-pinion diffs. really scarce, I suppose.
