Re: Oil pump - Stock vs High Pressure

You will be happy with what you've done. I put a magnet in my transmission pans too. Away from the filter opening. The difference is there isn't any oil pressure in the trans pan to dislodge the...

Re: Oil pump - Stock vs High Pressure

"I" wouldn't use a filter magnet ( external) . Let metal particles go into the filter media , not hang onto the walls of the filter. This places them in the oil flow all the time and at "bypass" on a...

Re: Header Fitment

I think you would be better off not using that one. It is for a 289-302 and IMHO it would be too tight up against the body. Plus ( something I found when I did my '67 Ranchero 351W swap) the...

Re: Oil pump - Stock vs High Pressure

Rusty
I strongly recommend the pan rail stiffeners. Far better gasket sealing.
Oil pumps are positive displacement. More rpm more flow. As Ross said "oil pressure" is actually a...

Re: Oil pump - Stock vs High Pressure

Rusty ,
A little more background . Ford spent a TON of money developing all kinds of oil systems for it's small block "factory" race engines that the public could not buy. One of the best was...

Re: 302 Cam thrust plate difference

Rusty,
I've run solid rollers , both cast steel ( yes they used to be) and 8620 billet since the '60s . The factory C5OZ cast iron thrust plate has been fine for all applications where I ran a...

Re: Oil pump - Stock vs High Pressure

The 68A has an 80# spring JUST LIKE Ford used in the Boss 302 pumps AND is the same one used in a High Volume pump . I use the 68A pumps all the time as the HV wastes HP. If more people understood...

Re: 67 ranchero z code

I have two '67 Rancheros. One is a C code converted to 390 suspension and 9" powered by a 408W. The other is an H code 390 2bbl that will be getting the 289 and C4 from #1. I am leaving the 9" rear...

Re: Piston selection

If you want a nicely priced forged piston consider the Autotec P/N 1000778 , flat top which will give 9.5 static with your specifications. That piston runs at .003 ( cold) piston to wall and features...

Re: 302 Cam thrust plate difference

The C50Z plate can be used on ANY small block Ford except a 351C-351M. The C90Z plate was designed specifically for the 351W block and had additional "tabs" like you mentioned which partially cover...

Re: grinding down shift

Sounds like the second gear is worn or the brass is bad . The brass is tapered on the inside to go with the taper on the gear and this is where the "speed up" ( in the case of downshifting) or slow...

Re: Looking for 31 spline axles

Good to hear as the Galaxie is all by itself as far as axle length! The 71-73 is the longest Mustang/ Torino 31 spline axle out there but is still short by almost an inch. Good job!

Re: Looking for 31 spline axles

Check your axle lengths . IIRC there was a Mustang 31 spline axle that would work in the Galaxie housing. I'll look in the Ford master Parts Catalog I have when I get home tonight to look at what...

Re: 66 C4 - Input Shell (on forward part of gear train) - Fitment problem

Yes I remember. We fixed the engine so now we can fix the transmission. I do all my own drivetrains so this is just the next issue in line LOL. I'll get a part in the USPS this week.

Re: 1966 C6 Build & Rollerization, Part 2-Modification

Greg,
It is not "Motorsport specific" . "I" believe it is a left over production part "sold off" through Ford Motorsport. If you weren't SO darn far away $$$$ shipping wise , I'd send it to...

Re: 1966 C6 Build & Rollerization, Part 2-Modification

You're right of course! I also did a wide ratio AOD that used parts from the 4R70W. My bad.
Getting old is not all it's cracked up to be! LOL
Much appreciated correction , I hate to put out...

Re: 1966 C6 Build & Rollerization, Part 2-Modification

Greg, It has a single groove . I did hear Ford Motorsport was selling off 4 clutch drums at the end. I will check it and tell you how "far down" the groove is. I didn't use this one as my core was a...

Re: 1966 C6 Build & Rollerization, Part 2-Modification

VERY nice step by step instructions /photos.
I stumbled onto some "old stock" of Ford Motorsports rollerized C6 parts , both std and wide ratio , but not a ''complete" conversion for very little...

Re: 9" rear end ?

The Fairlane and Mustang axle tubes tapered just before the spring perches . The Mustang (65-66) is very obvious and more taper than the '66 up Fairlane /Mustang housings. You could also measure the...
