Re: 390 TKO-600 in a 62 Sunliner

Ignore the 148075, I think that's for a mod motor. I believe you have a flywheel for an 11.5 inch clutch, I also believe that you would need the DF148033 to match your flywheel, I am not 100% sure...

Re: 390 TKO-600 in a 62 Sunliner

If you are talking flywheel to crank, keep turning it, they will line up only one way

If you are talking pressure plate to flywheel, there are two versions, 11 inch clutch and 11.5 inch clutch. ...

Re: 390 TKO-600 in a 62 Sunliner

I am sure MD did you right, but be sure to check the following depths and compare to the corresponding measurement on the tranny

1 - Bellhousing surface to deepest point of crank pilot hole (input...

Re: Piston selection

I wouldn't lose sleep over it, it'll run fine. We just try to optimize things when the budget allows

The likely differences in our calculations

- I used head gasket numbers that I use
- I...

Re: Piston selection

More is needed to pick a piston, but I can tell you the Autotec above is a quality piece for the money. Significantly nicer than the rest. If given a choice between it and an off the shelf piston,...

Re: Oil pump - Stock vs High Pressure

I am fond of using a HV pump, but I will adjust pressure to suit my needs. I do not like high pressure because it's the worst of both worlds (overstatement, but for a point)

A way to look at it...

Re: Holley 600 - set idle speed using secondary blade

One way to check, although not really precise, is to see if your ported vacuum is alive at idle. Passenger side of the front metering block on most Holleys. Has to be hot idle, choke fully open to...

Re: Not the Typical Holley Bog...Any Suggestions?

Sounds great! I am not a fan of the drop base bottoms as you can tell, but you likely will get there with what you listed. Not to mention, driving with a big scoop makes you feel 500% meaner the...

Re: Engine swap advice

If you find a 9 inch rear from 67-70 it's a bolt in, 289-302 with a C4 is a bolt in with the correct parts, as is any FE with a C6. Of course you need the correct parts and the list is long

For...

Re: Holley 600 - set idle speed using secondary blade

It's the way it should be done, it allows you to stay in the idle circuit, otherwise depending how deep you are, you could either have drippy transition slots, or even drippy boosters too.

Re: Not the Typical Holley Bog...Any Suggestions?

So, think about it over the winter, tough or not....

You are in a big trenchcoat and there is a heater directly under you......except that the trenchcoat is your drop base and the heater is your...

Re: Not the Typical Holley Bog...Any Suggestions?

I just wrote a book, and FM dumped it.

Put the carb back and now it's time to deal with the heat. Mixture only affects temps at extremes, it's not a 2 stroke.

I am leery of typing it all again...

Re: Not the Typical Holley Bog...Any Suggestions?

Good to reply to a post that has info and a guy who understands it. If you could post the type of piston you used it would help too. Eagle kits use Mahle at 7 cc or 20 cc, neither make sense for...

Re: Not the Typical Holley Bog...Any Suggestions?

Two other things, I would not make your timing come in quicker. All in by 2600-2700 is likely fast enough. You get it going too quickly and start pinging, you may break parts as you sneak up on a...

Re: Not the Typical Holley Bog...Any Suggestions?

Thanks, sorry I missed it.

Nice work, you'll get there

The PV is your next step, and if you are out of the transition slot, you can run as loose as a 6.5. Holley's 1/2 idle only works at...

Re: Not the Typical Holley Bog...Any Suggestions?

Just to reiterate, you are not going to get there with timing. 2 sets of 50cc pumps with 50+ squirters and a tight PV is going to cause a mess and likely washing your cylinders. I would put it back...

Re: Not the Typical Holley Bog...Any Suggestions?

One last comment.....this is a little milder than yours, but this is an 80513 on my 489 with 3.70 gears, 28 inch tall tires. It is set up exactly as I discussed before. After this, it went on my...

Re: Not the Typical Holley Bog...Any Suggestions?

First, I think 18 initial is plenty, although little more is a little better to bring up idle vacuum, also, if your converter allows it, don't be afraid to let it idle a little higher too. That's a...

Re: 390 rebuild for 67 Galaxie - will these pieces work together?

Flange seal means that after they welded the header together they machine the whole...

Re: ford 390 big block over haeting at idle

Scotty, the pulley ratio is more important than the size, should be 1:1 (same size) or 1:something less (fan pulley is smaller than the crank pulley) Be sure to look at the correct groove too,...

Re: 390 TKO-600 in a 62 Sunliner

Final drive ratio - OD X axle ratio is final drive (.64 * 4.11 = 2.63) ......remember, you can go too little gear too and tire size matters My Mustang with the .64 OD, 3.70s and 27 inch tires got...

Re: ford 390 big block over haeting at idle

Ethan, the GT heads are just passenger car heads, no different and not even really a "thing" The only reason many people refer to them as GT is the exhaust bolt pattern compared to the same head in a...

Re: 390 TKO-600 in a 62 Sunliner

Every one I have converted I have used the short input and the car bellhousing, except for one short bed truck where we used a stock truck bell. The truck bell, even with the input designed for it,...

Re: ford 390 big block over haeting at idle

Well 200 isn't too hot for safety, but I understand your frustration.

Assuming head gaskets aren't on backwards, which would always overheat, the only things are

1 - airflow / fan design
2 -...
