I remember when KB did have a pin in the oil groove and you had to grind the oil rail to fit around it.
But they dropped that some time ago. At least I have not...

I don't know much about drag racing, but the first thing I see is that you just gave up at least 1 point of compression. Your showing 9.7:1 with your Iron heads and 9.5:1 with your aluminum heads....

we built the engine in this article, the bore is at 4.125" That requires an aftermarket block. 4.250" is the stroke.

It locates between the head and the rocker arm pedestal. The "U" faces up, and the pedestal fits into the "U". It will have a hole on each end to line up with the rocker arm bolt holes in the head....

We will disassemble also, over the years I have seen machining chips and even a pressure relief valve installed backwards. It's a good time to inspect the heart of the engine.

Kit gasket sets are more universal, the intake gasket was different on the water cross over area in the early years, so I am guessing they supplied both sets. That's my guess.

Not trying to ruin your piston sale, but to remove almost 20c from US 2V heads, how strong will the deck of the head be? Also, the intake will require machining after all that material is removed....

We now have the sources to have custom pistons made for that "off the chart" application.
Customs will range between $550-$650 a set. Flat top piston are on the low side, domes higher priced.
