Re: 351 windsor intake manifold question

nevermind. Arguing has absolutely nothing to do with the original post. My apologies for hijacking. I will no longer share my experiences since Mr DANH can't post anything that makes sense.

Re: 351 windsor intake manifold question

In simple terms, yes. But intake manifold pressure still has a direct effect on DCR.

Re: Buoyancy of carb floats in ethanol gas

I guess I'm on borrowed time. 11 years now on the flying toilet and never had a single problem with anything. Tried changing the pill once. Put the one I took out back in.

Corrosiveness of...

Re: 351 windsor intake manifold question

Nope. DCR "can" be higher than static. intake manifold pressure also affects DCR-in a big way. In the wallace racing calculator, put in 30 psi boost and see what the DCR goes up to. I've seen...

Re: Buoyancy of carb floats in ethanol gas

Ethanol's specific gravity is around .815
Gasoline's specific gravity varies roughly .680 to .730.

SO ethanol is denser (water is 1.00). That would make a normal float float higher in ethanol...

Re: Hand gun purchase thoughts.

See if there's any ranges in your neighborhood that will rent pistols. Local range will rent a pistol of your choice to you, $40 for an hour + you buy the ammo. Includes range time $$$. While I...

Re: 351 windsor intake manifold question

I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how much more responsive the RPM is over the Victor Jr-especially on a mild engine like yours.

The Victor Jr is an excellent intake manifold for the...

Re: Sometimes it's just hard to sit in the garage and stare at race cars ...... :-)

Sure is tough. My Maverick's been sitting idle for almost a year now :(

In January, there was some "issues" at work-I'm still employed but I don't know for how long. Been looking for other work....

Re: Problem with Edelbrock performer carb going dry after a few days

Completely normal for fuel to evaporate in a day or so. Especially on an edelbrock carb. One, the bowls don't have a big capacity. Two, they are RIGHT on top of the engine/manifold-and they run...

Re: 221, 260 or roller 302 for best mpg?

my old '93 hatchback Mustang ran right around 29 mpg. 3.55's and a T5z. Decently built 5.0-but I paid attention to MPG from the start of the build, right down to light pistons, narrow rings,...

Re: cam question

not knowing the lobe separation, etc, I'm going to guess it should be all done by 6200, BUT it will be one heck of a torquey powerplant. I say peak HP at approx 5600-5800 and torque peak probably...

Re: how much oil pressure is to much

exactly. Pressure (no matter what kind of pressure we're talking about) is a product of leakage. A worn out engine will always have larger clearances and a higher leak rate, therefore lower oil...

Re: Compression Calculator

You're all over-complicating it.

There are 2 types of compression ratios that we shall be concerned with. Static and Dynamic.

Static compression ratio is the ratio of the total volume of the...

Re: Round Body 4.6L Falconaround prospect, your thoughts please.

Not a diesel fan whatsoever. However, a screaming "Jimmy" would sound nice. Whether it'd fit would be a different story. Maybe a 4V53T-if a guy could find one.

Re: Rod Bolt modifications - 3/8 for 289

Oliver is American. But about $1200 for a set of rods.

Also have a look at Ohio Crankshaft. Everything may be chinese now but at one time they advertised some made in USA stuff.

Re: Can't get water neck to seal...

I hate ALL of the aftermarket t-stat housings.

Even the "good" ones have leaked for me...usually I have to drive to the JY to get the one I want, which is a factory stock one.

Just recently...

Down the road is a '66 F100 for sale, it's a little rough but all there & comes with parts. Been thinking about picking it up and dropping in a V10 that I've already...

Re: Installing new intake gaskets...looking for good tips

I have never had to run my finger down the bead after isntalling the intake. If you need some clearance around the distributor, let it cure, then cut it away with a blade. You can also paint it if...

Re: Rod Bolt modifications - 3/8 for 289

Makes no sense to me to pay someone to resize the rods after installing bolts, when a set of 8 STEEL rods with 3/8" cap screws is a couple bucks more....and that way you get a better rod, better...

Re: 289 with 351w firing order

And that placed the load on the rear main bearing. NVH was what I was told for reasoning to change. Said the HO/351 order was supposedly smoother. I ASSume there was more to it than that...I'm not...

Re: How do you like this ring set?

Like any other ring pack, the manufacturer wants to see a particular hone grit. Mahle ultra-low-tension (what I have in my 438), they wanted a 600 grit hone. The custom Wiseco's I had in the old...

Re: How do you like this ring set?

See if you can call Mahle and get them in a "low drag" set. Then they'd be worthwhile.

Low drag doesn't mean oil usage either. Unless the cylinder walls are trashed and in that case nothing...

Re: 289 with 351w firing order

If you can get a flathead firing order camshaft, that's the best. 2/8 swap. 15486372.

Kaase uses it on a lot of big blocks, but I don't know of anyone using it on SBF. IIRC, it's the similar...
