Re: Oil pump - Stock vs High Pressure

I do have a girdle and ARP main studs. I don't know if the girdle is anything other than decoration, but I guess it doesn't hurt. If the block does split, I guess it will at least help keep the two...

Re: Oil pump - Stock vs High Pressure

No significant increase in load. If the pump is not pumping against pressure, there is no real amount of force involved. Spin an oil pump with a drill. If there is a plug missing, it spews oil...

Re: Oil pump - Stock vs High Pressure

3000 rpm for extended periods isn't really asking all that much. A lot of it depends upon clearances. As was said, with automotive machine shops, I like extra clearance... and extra clearance...

Re: Oil pump - Stock vs High Pressure

Maybe it's the high volume that has the 80 psi spring... but that is all I run... the high volume, non-high pressure pump. Oil pressure remains pretty much in the ideal range. I do run a Canton...

Re: Oil pump - Stock vs High Pressure

Backwards... Should have ordered the standard pressure, high volume pump. Standard is up to 80 psi. High pressure is over 100 psi. Only good for blowing your oil filter gasket out, or rupturing...

Re: Header Fitment

Looks like I may have been a little hasty. You 'may' be able to get the 6208 to work if you want the big tubes. However, I haven't been able to confirm it. A little more discussion... It is...

Re: Header Fitment

Research the Hooker 6208. It's a 1-3/4" full length header designed to swap a 351W into 65-66 mustang... or any early mustang. Many use them in the 67-up mustangs because they offer more room. ...

Re: Oil pump - Stock vs High Pressure

I've also always used High Volume pumps. Rather have extra than not enough. Never seen any downsides... and I ABUSE my engines. lol I guess a standard volume pump would be ample as long as...

Re: 302 Cam thrust plate difference

The MAIN part to check compatibility with is the cam gear for the timing chain. I can tell you for a fact that running a billet timing set with a cast iron plate WILL cause wear issues between the...

Re: AFR 205 head with damage...what to do?

Glad you got it fixed! Might look into a FelPro MLS head gasket.
Good Luck!

Re: Engine swap advice

This would be my first choice as a swap as well. If you want to make some power, it doesn't cost much more to stroke one to 408ci. All 351W engines use the older 28 oz-in external balance shared...

Re: Engine swap advice

C4 is plenty for a small block. It's also a more efficient transmission, and absorbs less power... in addition to being smaller, lighter and easier to deal with when packaging it into a car.

Re: Engine swap advice

1967 6 cyl came with 4 lug wheels and a 7.25" rear end. The small block V8 got the 8" and 5 lug wheels.

Unfortunately, to properly change to a V8, you'll need all the suspension, along with the...

Re: rocker arm choise 347

Hello Helge

I'm assuming you are from another country... and parts may be a LOT more expensive. Your existing roller rockers will be just fine. Scorpion is a good brand.

The valve springs...

Re: rocker arm choise 347

Installing a hydraulic roller cam in an older block requires paying attention to a lot of details. First, you will need a distributor that has a gear for a steel hydraulic roller cam. Cast iron...

Re: 302 Cam thrust plate difference

I think your part number is messed up. First letter of the part number indicates the decade the part is for, and the number following it is the year in that decade. C9 would be 1969, C5 would be...

Re: Not the Typical Holley Bog...Any Suggestions?

I believe the largest bushings provide the least mechanical advance... and allow you to run more initial.

Re: Not the Typical Holley Bog...Any Suggestions?

For that much cam, you need to use the lightest springs and install the bushing for the LEAST mechanical advance. This will allow you to have more initial, which will help with response.

To check...

Re: grinding down shift

As was said, the brass colored blocking rings are not all created equal. The better ones have a good fit, and are more bronze than brass... as bronze is a much tougher, longer lasting material. I...

Re: grinding down shift

Normally, I would say it needs a rebuild kit with a new 2nd and 3rd gear. Be a good time to upgrade to a Toploader or a 5-speed. This would be for a transmission that was previously shifting...

Re: Not the Typical Holley Bog...Any Suggestions?

MY427stang is always an excellent resource for all things FE. It pays to listen to his advice.

I'm going to add a couple things. A 308R is a solid roller race cam. For these to adequately oil...

Re: Installing a T5 in a classic Ford, other than a Mustang

Modern Driveline is a good source for transmissions, clutches, etc. There's also a vendor who is great with adapting the T5 to older Fords... such as cable clutch conversions, and all sorts of...
