Which C6 swaps into 460 Torino?

Anyone know what vehicles I can swap a C6 tranny out to fit my 460 in my Torino? Can I use a F250/150 unit? I know I need to find a Cleveland 400M, or Lima motor, but what else should I be looking...

Re: Input shell not meshing completely

I ended up using a different drum, and everything fit perfectly. Looking at the two side by side, I couldn't see any differences, but one was definitely warped. It probably lived a hard life, or got...

Hey Berserker (https://www.fordmuscleforums.com/members/154882-berserker.html), please post some video of your current sound. Curious about what your neighbors are complaining about. I'm a fan of...

Re: Anyone have a 68 302V8/C4 Combo?

I converted to a 351w and new aluminum Griffin exact fit radiator. But these are my original lines. Looks like a match.

Anyone using a Moroso Perm-align Transmission Gasket

I'm resealing my C4 pan for the 4th time now. I have tried several combinations of sealers, gaskets and even using a PA deep cast aluminum pan. Can NOT stop this f-ing thing from leaking from pan...

Re: Advance Curve Kit - Which springs?

Well, first test using both Mr. Gasket springs:

Definitely more responsive below 2,500. But, with some part throttle load it starts to ping a little at 2,500. I might adjust vacuum canister...

Re: Advance Curve Kit - Which springs?

Yea, I think the "butt-o-meter" will tell me lot. The fun part is tuning to perfection, the un-fun part is putting the breaker/advance plates back together without losing the "e" clips. I'm thinking...

Re: 1966 C6 Build & Rollerization, Part 1-Tear Down

Wait... how is it you have no traces of tranny fluid anywhere when pulling it apart? Something is amiss. Nice job though! Looks like a larger version of a C4 with an extra clutch pack.

Advance Curve Kit - Which springs?

Does anyone know which of the springs get changed in the Mr Gasket 925D kit? I've read replace them both, as well as just replacing one.

The distributor has one light and one heavy now of course,...

Re: Carb linkage / kickdown ?

I'll take pictures of my setup, and will post today. I have a C4. I had to install the bracket that made it pull backwards, verses pull forwards, which is the ORIGINAL position. Bottom line, it has...

Re: Neutral Safety Switch Repair

Yea, I'll assume that C4 Mustangs will use that style switch, and that it would fit and clear the linkage. I'll see if that will work instead of pulling the whole console out, etc... Not sure why...

Neutral Safety Switch Repair

Anyone ever successfully repair a console style NSS? I was wondering if it was worth taking mine out and apart. I want my reverse lights working again for crying out loud! It would also be nice...

Re: How rare?

It could make a really cool sleeper. Great power to weight too, since it's basically a Maverick.

Re: Carb linkage / kickdown ?

You'll need the pedal with bracket too. The cable needs to come from a 4bbl car. A Cleveland, 302, 351 Windsor cable will work. Optimally, you can buy the entire pedal and cable assembly from a 70-71...

Re: Carb linkage / kickdown ?

I replaced the factory bell crank nonsense and throttle pedal with a 70-71 Torino cable. Then replaced the kickdown with a Lokar type.

I know you can make the rod type systems work, but they...

Re: Painting plastic engine parts

But does plastic paint hold up to engine heat? It's a mess when it doesn't hold. So far the engine primer and paint are standing up to the heat test.

Re: Painting plastic engine parts

Yup, that's what I just did. Sprayed a coat of Bulldog first, then Duplicolor ceramic engine primer. Waiting for tomorrow to spray some Ford dark blue.

The real test will be when the engine...

Re: ported vacuum switch location - 390 66 galaxie

All I can say from personal experience, is that when I set my base timing to 12 degrees for starters, then tweaked my total timing to 35 at around 3.5k with advance unplugged. Afterwards, I added...

Re: Best Solution for cooling issue...

I have a 68 as well with a 351w. Same issue with cooling. My fix was a Griffin direct fit aluminum radiator along with the exact 6 blade fan in the picture. I'm using a shorter spacer from a...

Re: ported vacuum switch location - 390 66 galaxie

With our classics -unless you're going for factory correctness, why bother at all with ported vacuum advance? Just use manifold vacuum and enjoy the extra advance, cooler temp at idle, and better...

Re: ported vacuum switch location - 390 66 galaxie

63ford406, I was wondering about that later. Because emissions timing retarding didn't come until later, even in CA right? So the advancing helps cool the motor with the A/C on and maybe sitting in...

Re: ported vacuum switch location - 390 66 galaxie

You don't need it. It's a smog part designed to retard timing until the motor warms up. Sweet motor!

Re: Heat soak driving me to drink- heavily!

Another thing that helps is keeping the coil upright so the oil cools the coils better than on its side.
