Mine are held in place with barrel clips. Pretty sure they are factory.

Re: Comp Cam lifters 5/16 push rod cups

The ball is at the lifter end of the pushrod, the cup is at the rocker arm end if you have adjustable rockers.

Re: 1966 galaxie 16" vs 17" wheel and brake combo

If you are going to use 15" rims, then avoid the 4 piston calipers. The factory 4 piston calipers as used on the '66 and '67 Galaxies required different rims to clear the calipers, and probably one...

Re: 1966 galaxie 16" vs 17" wheel and brake combo

I've just measured one of my rotors which came from a '71 Galaxie kit, and a spare rotor which came off my '70 Galaxie. They are 11 5/8" diameter.
The hub sizes are a fraction away from 70mm...

Re: 1966 galaxie 16" vs 17" wheel and brake combo

I originally bought a disc brake kit which I wasted about 6 months trying to get it to work right. I then found that some of the parts were inferior, so I then fitted the disc assemblies from a '71...

Re: 1966 galaxie 16" vs 17" wheel and brake combo

Have you purchased a disc brake conversion kit yet?
In my opinion, I would simply find a set of disc brake spindle assemblies from a '70-'72 Galaxie. They are a straight swap. That way you will have...

Re: Mixed breed maintanence

I would have thought that the hoses for the 289 in '63 Galaxies would be easily available. Have you checked online at places like Macs?

Re: What did you do with your GALAXIE today?

I went out in my '70 Galaxie to check out a '69 Mercury Marauder which is for sale. :)

Re: Roller Rockers

Just make sure that the valve/rocker clearance is adjusted to what the cam manufacturer recommends for your cam.
Oh, and try to avoid those cheap nasty roller rockers, like Pro Comp. :)

Re: Replacing fuel line with 3/8

All the mechanical fuel pumps on Ford V8s are on the driver's side.

Re: Timing confusion 351E

Being a 1969, it would most likely be a 351W, but anything could have changed over 50 years.
Perhaps a photo of the engine would be better to ID it.

Re: Please Identify Part Picture

The road draft tube is a steel tube which basically drops the ventilation into the air straight below the engine. The tube is almost straight. It fits in the larger outlet.
The smaller outlet is for...

Re: Please Identify Part Picture

It's the housing to attach either a road draft tube or hose to a PCV valve.

Re: New carb time...

What's the problem with your current Holley? They are easy to tune.
If they were no good, Ford would never have used them, especially on their multi carb set ups.

Re: Big brakes

I have the '71 front spindles on my '63 Fastback. '70-'72 are the same.
They are a straight fit with no problems. Only adjustment will be to lengthen the tie rod adjustment by about 5/8", then get a...

Re: 66 7 Liter Brakes

We just fitted a complete disc set up from a '71 Galaxie to my friend's '66, using the spindles, rotors, calipers etc. It's a straight fit.

Re: mental musings on a '63...maybe, maybe not?

That sounds very interesting, and could possibly be the reason why it was designed that way. But maybe not. :)
And here is another thing that may never bee noticed. Some fastbacks came with...

Re: 351c spark plug blowby

The 351C uses tapered plugs on all engines. Unless you are using aftermarket alloy heads which use flat seat with washers.

Re: Wheel and tire size for my 66

The problem with the '66 is that you need wheels specific for that year to clear the calipers. Or use spacers.

Re: 351 Cleveland sluggish and breaks up at 5000 rpm

I'm trying to figure out what the engine actually is.
It's a 351C drag motor, but it's a 400 block with 351C 4V heads? To me that sounds like it's a 351M with 4V heads, as the 351C crank won't fit...
