Re: 351 heads on a 289

That is an interesting theory, but let's not forget the higher the mechanical compression, coupled with proper cam timing can really help crutch poor flowing heads.

Re: 351 heads on a 289

On a 8:1 motor I'll take the 1.5 points in compression over 10-15 cfm any day.....

Re: 351 heads on a 289

I wouldn't bother with 351w heads on a 289, the little bit of extra flow isn't worth the compression loss.

If your dead set on using factory iron, I'd get a set of 289 heads and open them up,...

Re: Motorcycle carbs on tunnel ram

Your wasting your time on the motorcycle carb idea.

Suggestion...... if you want an IR type set-up use the lower part of the manifold and make 2 adaptors to put 2 1050 dominators on top of the...

Re: Budget build 302

Headers and dual exhaust and a set of gears (3.50-3.91)are going to be your biggest bang for the $$$ spent.

Re: 351C 2V Head Choices

With your small cam and choice on intakes the low 6000's it will be out of steam, but the rotating assembly and other parts are fine to a lot more rpm.

I'd try the head you have already, see how...

Re: GT40 Heads on a 71 302

If it's holding 200 in 95 degree weather while idling and cruising, your fine, I wouldn't waste the money on a new rad. Keep tuning.

Re: GT40 Heads on a 71 302

Well IMO thats where you need to start. Tune the Carb and play with the timing first.

The Valve train shouldn't have anything to do with the problem you have described.
