Re: 8 & 9 rear end? Poor man posi w/washers?

I did this to my 8 inch many years ago. It held up ok until I invested in a sticky set of street tires. The extra traction going around corners wore out the washers pretty quickly and turned it back...

Re: Engine build advice 351w d4ae

Did you end up having custom headers built? I used the hooker 6208s in my 68. 1 3/4 primaries with slip fit pipe on each side. They fit well but the flange in the headers was a little too narrow...

Re: Mustang 68 fastback

Get yourself a compression gauge and do a test. Excess smog or fumes from the crankcase is usually caused by bad ring seal in the cylinders. Does it have a pcv system in place?

Re: 393 or 408

I personally like the 408. It drops in with very little hassle and doesn't overstress anything. I bought a kit from scat with the I beam capscrew connecting rods and the only clearancing I had to do...

Re: Valvetrain Selection. Need Help

Depending on the rpms and springs pressures you are running you might also want to look into a shaft rocker setup. Especially if you are thinking of also purchasing a stud girdle. You also don't need...

Re: Aftermarket water pumps for SBF

After going through a couple of remans in very short order I bought a milodon. Been running it for a few years now with no issues at all.

Re: Advise ...soild 302 or stroke it ?

That would have been my next advice is to move to a lower gear ratio. Since you don't want to do that adding more torque to the engine is the best idea. Especially torque on the lower end of the rpm...

Re: 306 build

It isn't that hard to get those hp numbers with a good set of aftermarket heads. A stroker will just do it at a lower rpm which makes it a little more streetable. If you have to buy a crankshaft and...

Re: Advise ...soild 302 or stroke it ?

For a truck you need torque to get it moving and the 302 is lacking in that department. Stroking it will help a bunch but only if you can feed the extra cubes. Good flowing heads and intake and the...

Re: 351c 4v 10 sec mustang?

Depends on a lot of things like engine torque and vehicle weight etc as to what it will actually stall at. I would say if you are still trying for 10s naturally aspirated that 3000 rpm will not be...

Re: Ford 302 Ignition choices . Opinions Welcome.

I think that setup should work great for you. I don't know if there is anything different about a Sun Tach but I didn't have any issues hooking up my old mallory tach to my MSD 6AL box. I just...

Re: 9" rear end torque and hp limits, regular case, not nodular iron

I would say it depends..I have broken a 9 inch with a stock 250 six cylinder and another while just peeling out on a sand covered road. I didn't break the case but some internal parts. The first was...

Re: engine repainting

Engine degreaser and a pressure washer using hot water if possible. It can certainly be done in the car but is more work as you have to mask off the engine bay. You will need to take all the...

Re: 65' Mustang GT

Dennis do those headers still have the standard width bolt pattern for small block heads or are they wider? I am always on the lookout for a better set of headers than what I am running. I am also...

Re: 289 power ups!!?

The problem with sticking a cam into the engine using stock heads is you have to stay very mild or risk pulling the studs out of the heads. Stiffer springs and high rpms will often pull them out. If...

Re: 1966 Ford 289 2-BBL Head Gasket, Engine from a Full Size Ford

+1...Make absolutely sure you have the gasket with the end marked front towards the front of the engine or you will have major overheating issues.

Re: Ford 302 Ignition choices . Opinions Welcome.

First of all thank you for selling that monstrosity of an HEI distributor. I hate the look of them in the front of a ford engine.
What didn't you like about the pertronix 1 unit? I have one that I...

Re: 352 Compression Readings

I have never noticed much difference with the throttle opened or closed. It would definitely not cause very low readings like that if the engine was healthy.

Re: 400m needs more power

Do you have any goals in mind other than specific hp numbers? What is the intended use of the motor? I may be wrong but I doubt you are over 400 hp with that tiny camshaft.. I used a camshaft with...

Re: How many miles will a 302/5.0 last??

Wow this is an old thread and I was shocked to see that it was me who started it. I ended up buying a 96 F150 with a 5.0. It was a great truck and very reliable. The only engine work I ever did to it...

More cam and compression should help wake it up.

Re: Whats the MAX you can port Victor Jr Heads??

Your right. It depends on what your goal is. For drag racing sometimes it is better to get rid of some low end torque for more power up high. These strokers already make boatloads of torque and it's...
