Re: Anyone install a Gearvendor Overdrive unit

The main purpose of the AC Delco synthetic GL4 fluid is that it softens the shift.

My GV manual calls for the gear lube (unless one is racing and fast shifts are desired (then Dextron 3 is...

Re: Anyone install a Gearvendor Overdrive unit

Figured since this thread could be used as a future reference for others that I'd add a little more info:

Found this little 90* unit on EvilBay for $40 delivered from a vendor who goes by...

Re: Anyone install a Gearvendor Overdrive unit

Good job in figuring it out.

Would you be so kind as to pass on any info that you might have about the 90* adapter? GM part #, or years used/type tranny, or even their phone # so I can get find...

Re: Anyone install a Gearvendor Overdrive unit

I have found several issues with the GV instructions when I was messing with stuff a few months ago.

I piddled with the speedo kit and a couple of Ford Speedo cables i have laying around. Here...

Re: Anyone install a Gearvendor Overdrive unit

I have a NOS GV toploader kit in the garage that I have yet to fully install. I too have all the parts that you mentioned but haven't messed with them yet other than look at them. I doubt if my...

Re: fan blade destroyed the radiator

That's exactly how I fixed "my" situation.

Re: fan blade destroyed the radiator

Also bolt a fan on the water pump and check for bearing play by moving the blades side to side. I would find wear that way every 2-3 years on the race car when it was using a heavy clutch fan.

Re: 1963 1/2 Galaxies 500, 406, 4-speed

Sweet 63!

AFAIK, a toploader wasn't available until 64' . . . . Probably a T10 or a toploader retrofit.

This is the recipe that would make it an awesome all around driver!

Re: Stock 351W Distributor

Mike is correct (if it is indeed a roller cam.-------You will need to check and verify as not all are rollers.)

In addition the oil pump drive on a 351w is of a larger diameter (than the...

Re: Toploader barely shifts when hot

If the sticking pedal is the only problem that you have then you should be very happy with the clutch and its light pedal action even with the spring removed. I also have one in my old V8 GMC...

Re: Toploader barely shifts when hot

No it will not hurt anything to remove the spring. I've experimented with it both ways and the spring helps with the pedal push, but not so much that that the pedal is too tough to push without it...

Re: Toploader barely shifts when hot

This--learned this the hard way using Mobil 1 synthetic. Had OK usage with GL5 Dino Oil but now use the correct GL4 type.

Re: Title Question

In PA you will need to have the VIN checked against the title by an inspection station if the title is not already from PA and in your name. This requires an inspection mechanic to physically see...

Re: Drag race carbs

750 indeed sounds too small, depending on what cam, intake, and header size that you plan to run. My built NA 434 requires a 1050 cfm carb to do 7500 rpm shifts and run out the back door crossing...

Re: Small block clutch with FE flywheel

Hint: 390 input shafts came with the SBF diameter clutch splines. The length of the input shaft is the only difference between the 390 small spline input and a SBF input.

Re: How do I -

Yes, predrill a small hole and use a slide hammer with a screw. Tapping the holes for NPT pipe plug is a very common practice. Just don't tap it so deep that the installed plug will interfere with...

Re: 65' Mustang GT

Its the end of the 2018 race year so it looks like a good time to give this old thread an update.

Re: 65' Mustang GT

The G101a is has been fun to play with at the track. It is strong but I still find ways to break it . . . . I run too much clutch at times. Luckily Gforce always has parts to help me out.

Re: Dennis111 more Toploader questions

Drilling the new hole in the tabs will make it physically harder to shift the gears. It won't hurt anything though. You might consider getting a new shifter. A Hurst Competition Plus would work...
