I'm happy to help also. Live in Santa Monica.
  3. Coil Spring Compressor

    Galaxie Pages
Rob I just removed my front coil springs on my 64 earlier this year. This method is what the Ford service manual states. I highly recommend you purchase a service manual. They are extremely valuable. And I did not have to wrestle with the springs.

I think Dynomat is a great idea. I am thinking about pulling up my carpeting and laying it down.
  5. Power Steering pump

    Galaxie Pages
When does your noise occur? When idling? Turning the steering wheel left and right when at idle? Only when driving? Louder when higher RPMs?
  6. Brake relining

    Galaxie Pages
This is an excellent point and one that I always tell myself when I get behind the wheel of the Galaxie. I know I must give myself a lot more space behind the car in front of me at all times because to stop this beast of a car takes so much more time to stop than our modern cars.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Good one!
  8. front suspension woes

    Galaxie Pages
Sorry to hear of your nagging issue. With your brakes still pulling, a few things and questions come to my mind.... When was the last time your Galaxie had a front end alignment? Are both front tire pressures correct? Could there be a kink/cramp/blockage in your brake system's hard lines...

If you utilize any kind of medium for blasting the intake just be certain to properly tape off all airways to the inside of the intake. You don't want any amount of any medium getting in there.

Just a thought on the intake. If you keep it cast aluminum it will provide more of that contrast you are looking for in your engine bay. They can be cleaned up and even given a shot of clear coat protectant to keep them that way. I think your idea of a satin black firewall and inner...

Great looking build there! Nice pick up...the 390 and 4 speed. Just a note, the block should be black for a 64 if you want it to look original. Please keep the pictures of your progress coming. Oh...and I vote black also. Black with red interior cannot be beat on a 64 fastback.
  12. 64 Galaxie Wheel Fitment

    Galaxie Pages
I run a larger rear tire than your 215/60/15 desired tire, a 225/70/15 with no problem on stock suspension and rear drum brakes and a lowered rear end. So you should not have a problem assuming you choose the proper back spacing. For the fronts that will not be an issue either. I caution...
  13. I need a photo of this part on a 64

    Galaxie Pages
I've always known them as Rear Spring Plates. Off hand I don't know who may reproduce them, but I imagine this 1964 Galaxie part was used on other large sedans and coupes from Ford and Mercury. Perhaps a call to the folks at Eaton Dertroit Springs would be helpful as they make springs for all...

Here is what I can provide now. If you need other angles, let me know and I'll take a couple shots for you when I get home later today.
  15. relocating fuel line

    Galaxie Pages
Interesting question! Never thought about this but here goes..... One, I think since the location of the factory mechanical fuel pumps are where they are, it's a nice easy route to take the hard line up along the inner fender well then straight to the pump with the rubber fuel line. Two...

Matt Thanks for the compliment on the old Gal. I posted my wheel and tire size. Are you looking for wheel width? If so that would be 5 inch up front and 7 inch in back.
  17. Header fitment, what are you using 63-64 FE

    Galaxie Pages
I believe Stan at Ford Powertrain Application make a superb header. While I have not used him for my Galaxie (running cast iron headers) I have used his products on Mustangs. Here is a link to his website. You can look at his try Y design. I did not look up pricing, but I imagine it's above...

Nytling thank you for the kind words on the car. I cannot claim the restoration work on this one (I have done vintage Mustangs), it was finished 8 years ago by a couple fellas in Kentucky, where the car was originally from. From there it went to Mike's Classic Cars in Omaha, where he verified...

Thanks Norm. Your blue and white Gal is different and stunning. That sure is a great line about the bomber and landing gear! :D Below: Mine with fresh springs, the little w/wall 14s, painted wheels and dog dishes -just so you can compare --It was nice looking, but it looked (and handled) a...
