Rangoon Red, White fastback top, black interior
390 Thunderbird Special V8, 4 speed
Acquired brand new by my dad from Woody Sander Ford, Cincinnati, Ohio 30 July 1963.
1963 Ford Galaxie 500 (Rangoon Red, White fastback top, black interior)
Dad basically "blew up" the first engine after his sons allegedly urged him him to "jump on it" to hear some new glass packs sing... Dave Schenk (sp?) in LA replaced the long block with a Ford service replacement 390 (green paint) in early 70s. Heads are C8 something. Original gold air cleaner and Thunderbird valve covers and recently rebuilt radiator expansion tank, finally repainted in 2013.
Sun tach circa 1971 on steering column and dual gauge pod with 2 5/8" Stewart-Warner mechanical oil pressure and coolant temperature gauges. Otherwise, NO modifications save new genuine NOS Ford front bench seat upholstery and carpeting. Rear seat and dash are as new, no cracks, no runs, no errors.
None! Except for touched up paint with minor body repairs after surviving two teenagers learning to drive with it in 1970s.
Glass pack mufflers and original AM radio, good for baseball games and local news. I recently removed the no-longer working 8 track that hung under the dash from about 1972.
Wheel and Tire
Original wheel covers.
