Just a personal thing really.

Re: Correct eccentric

It is your call, but most likely the pump can be mounted in a fashion that will lessen vibration and not transfer noise.

What mech pump are you going with? CARTER HI-FLOW?

Yeah, even dangling my Bosch pump from a string it's pretty loud, though with a carb you don't need near the pressure out of it, which can quiet it down considerably.

There's nothing wrong with a mechanical pump, they're no more 'old tech' than the carburetor you're running or the entire concept of the piston engine itself, and just fine for their designed usage.

Probably a Holley or maybe a Carter, but not made the decision yet. What sort of pressure\GPH do I need to be looking at?

6-8 psi will be plenty for most applications. edelbrock has there performer rpm pump that might fit your needs. it has a 110 gph and will not need a regulator.

Re: Correct eccentric

M-6287-C is for a 7/16 cam bolt, you probably have a 3/8 cam bolt so you would need the M-6287-B

Re: Correct eccentric

Hello all,

Informative thread, thanks. I'm trying to find a fuel pump eccentric.. builder has a billet timing set that will only accept the 1 piece eccentric, apparently. The main Ford P/N 302-6287-B is sold out everywhere for at least a month.

The local ford dealership said their reno distributor has the attached one in stock, which appears to be a 1 piece, near as I can tell. Can anyone confirm it'll work?

FYI the build is a roller 408 based off a late model 351w. Compcams 282XE. Not sure if the fuel pump shaft is steel or iron, i was told they wanted to use steel...
