What kind of rpm range would the engine see?..Are you shooting for a hp number? Stock block?..Budget?
I'm thinking 2000-6500rpm, looking for at least 450 at the rear wheels, stock block, forged bottom end, h-beam rods, internal balance. I was planning on AFR 205s (that probably answers the budget question
), but looking for opinions. As far as cam, a Comp custom grind isn't out of the question, and don't mind an aggressive idle at all. Looking for the broadest possible power range and torque curve.
I'm also planning on having a Tremec close-ratio 6-speed and 3:55 gears.
Also searching for an appropriate intake. Given the road-racing application, I think maybe a dual-plane might be best.
Admittedly, I have been out of the performance Ford arena for about 25 years, and haven't fully caught up with best practice. It's even harder to do since most folks seems to be more interested in 1/4-mile times than road racing.
