I am looking for some rims to run on the street and really like the 16" pony rims , I have seen that their are companys making 5 lug ponys does anyone know the back spacing on these rims and if they would fit a 65 mustang that whould look so cool. I am not interested at all in the bullit 17s everybodys don that and they look just like torque thrust. I would also be interested in the cobra r or the 2000 cobra rims they are 17x8 but I dont know the back spacing . thankd for any info.

You need spacers to make the late model wheels work on your early Mustang. Late model wheels have around an inch more back spacing than early ones. How much depends on what you are now running. Various places make spacers, but I hear that you need machined ones not cast. They are stronger. don't worry about bearing wear as the tire ends up in exactly the same place as stock.

Don't forget the longer studs to go with 'em. I saw a 66 with ponies on it at a show once. Looked better than I thought it would.
