I was wondering if anyone could help me out...i am looking to put 17" wheels on my 68 coupe and i am kind of lost about what size to go with. I looked at a couple online and i came up with this ...

american racing thurst 2
rear 17x8 4 3/4 inch backing 245/45/17 tires
front 17x7 4 inch backing 215/50/17 tires

has any done the 17" change and if so what worked as a good setup? thanks

Wow thats a nice list thanks! What do you guys think about this?
rear 17x9.5 (6 3/8" Backspace 275/40/17
front 17x8 4" backspace 245/45/17

Thanks for the huge help!!!!
I am also running 17x8's in the front and 17x9.5's in the rear NO rubbing anywhere ever. You can get a 10 inch wide wheel in the back of the 67 68 stangs without any body mods...well except for rolling the rear fender lips. Everything has to be just right in order for it to work without rubbing if you try to go with the 10s.

if your gonna go 17 by 8 in the front be sure to get a wheel with 4 3/4 inches of backspace of they will rub. 4 inches of backspace is not enough.

one of the guys on the other forum has a 67' with 17X11's and a 315 tire with no mods to the suspension
Yes but he did have to narrow the rear end to get it to work.
As far as i know, he didnt narrow it, so he claims.

7" wheel is a bit narrow for a 245-45 tire. Minimum wheel width recommended by most tire manufacturers is 7.5" for that tire size. You would be better off with 8" wheels if you haven't already ordered them.

cheers
