I would like some information on putting a 5.0 HO In to a 57 ranchero.
Do I need a front sump or a rear sump.
Do I need to change the pickup tube to the front or back.??Right now it has a rear pick up tube and a double sump pan
What do I use for motor mounts??
Iam going to put in a t5 trans do I need to change the trans mount??

I have put in a clutch pedale do I run a hyd slave cylinder
What else should I be aware of??

Does this 1957 have a easy to bolt on 1958 dual headlight front end? Used to be near bolt on and wire up. Could be done after work in the evening. Very popular if you got the right color from the wrecking yard.

Not sure about the T5. I've got a '58 with an '89 5.0(carbed for now) and an AOD. I switched over to an earlier style front sump pan, oil pump pickup, and timing cover. The timing pointer was a little tricky.
I used motor mounts for a '67 cougar, I drilled holes through the centers of the mounts and enlarged the holes in the stock crossmember to run bolts through. I cut the rear tangs off of the motor mounts on each side.
I've also seen horizontal tubes welded into the crossmember and the same mounts used in the stock fashion. If I did it again I would have drilled the holes differently so as to move the motor back further, clearance to the radiator is a little tight.
For the trans crossmember I used the '58 ends that bolt to the frame and fabricated a new center section that stepped backwards to line up with the AOD trans mount.

I've put a 289 into a into a 1955 Ford which the frame have the same mounting holes! I used 289 motor mounts for a 194 Galaxy and I slotted the double holes on the frame to make it one long hole because the 64 only has one stud in center of mount! Dropped the motor mounts into the slots and centered / leveled motor! Transmission mount fit fine! Hope this helps?
