I say kudos for taking the plunge into a project like that! And someone your age going for an old Ford/Merc product is even better!

As for color, paint it any color you like. It's your car, you'll be the one driving it and seeing it every day. Colors are just that and individual tastes vary. :)

I wanted bright green for my engine so that's what I painted it. Some hate it, some love it but all that matters is how I feel about it. And I love it. :)

Welcome to the forum!!!

i agree with shotrod it's your's /it sure would be a funny world if we all only liked the same things /
that's the reason we all love cars because we all like to do it just a little different so good luck to your project and am impressed with the fact you are 15 so good luck and keep us posted

I can appreciate your enthusiasm in the old car hobby or any car hobby for that matter. I just wish there were more like you. You have what I believe is one of the most stylish cars that Ford ever produced. It is one of my all time favorites. So you can restore the car for it's beauty or you can restore it to show off a paint job.
Some cars look good in all colors and some don't. The colors that Chrysler used back in the day were better suited for their cars more than they would be for GM or Ford cars. Round bodies and Mustangs take well to just about any color, but cars with a lot of lines don't.
Chrysler has some modern day colors that will ring beautiful on just about any platform but the orange and black is not one of them in my opinion.
This is only my opinion however and it's your car and your choice. So whatever paint scheme you choice is up to you and I'm sure it will look great.
Please keep us up to date.
If you decide that the Comet is not really the car for you, just drop me a line. LOL.

I bought my first car at 15. Good for you. A '64 Comet is a very sweet car! If you want a "different" colour look up 1964 Mercury "Bittersweet" 1964 was Mercury's 50th Anniversary and that was a special colour that year
