The hood I found for my 67f100 is pitted pretty bad…your efforts have inspired me to proceed with the sand and paint idea. Yours looks good.

thanks Masinc, hope it works out for you... i'm not building a show car & i'm sure a perfectionist will be able to pick my work apart... heck, i have a whole list of things i coulda woulda shoulda done differently, and i'm sure there will be more...

but thats ok, i'm an old man having fun with an amateur restoration project :)

Same here..I am no spring chicken and no show piece truck but hated to haul it to the junk heap. Dang its expensive to get it street legal and reasonably dependable. This is our third shot at “restoring it” so it’s proly just gonna be more “mod rod”. It pulls the two axel trailer with kabota with bush hog…so I figure good enough. Keep up the effort.

today > doctor sick visit, sinusitis, bronchitis, start antibiotics & steroid treatment...
just now > may actually be feeling a tad better :)

Felt good enough at end of week to mess with the falcon a little…

during this whole heat/scrape process i've been wondering exactly “why am i doing this?”

i'm reasonably certain >
  1. the car will not run any better without undercoating, and
  2. the fender wells will be mostly hidden from view unless one stoops to take a peek.
and so the great philosifical question remains: why?
yeah spellng isnt right, but I like my version beter😉

answers >
(1) gives me something to do,
(2) doesn’t cost hardly anything,
(3) will look better when its done, and
(4) well I guess that’s about it.

I
I keep pulling the same kind of critter nests out of new places in my old rig too. Wish we could have weighed the projects for a way to see how much accumulation has been added over the years. I take pressure washer to underside of mine every time I venture out to the shop and always get a new pile of dirt/grease on the concrete. Gotta be getting lighter…..proly fall all to pieces one of these trips.

proly fall all to pieces one of these trips > that's funny... when i scraping off undercoating i was thinking the same thing, what if the undercoat is the glue holding it all together? ;-)

continued with dashboard cleanup...

ok, i'm getting to the point where i may start ordering some replacement parts that i can't pick up at the local parts store such as fuel tank, heater stuff, mostly other stuff that makes the car work, the cosmetic items can wait for now... lots of places to choose from online... you folks have any favorite go-to vendors?

no work on the falcon wednesday, it was too cold for me & turned into a couch potato day... hate it when that happens, but it does every so often...

the first couple of weeks (august '22) into this car consisted of just dismantling and seeing what all i thought had to be done or replaced, and what it might cost... i took many pics as reference in case i ever actually got it back together... here are a few more >

this pic makes me wonder if it's possible to reuse an original '65 fuel tank?
anyone ever try that?
I reused mine. It was pretty good shape but had 2 rust pinholes close together on the bottom. I drilled them up and made a backing plate for the inside. Welded nuts to the backing plate, saturated it with poly sealant, and snaked it into place with a piece of safety wire. Gooped up two machine screws and tightened it up.
