I just bought a 1965 Ford Fairlane from a gentlement in Sarasota Florida. It had one owner on the title and that person passed away in January at the age of 95.

Jason, you have not made a poor investment. Your issue is fairly simple once you find it. The trick is to determine exactly what it is doing (or not doing) when it stalls. Likewise when it does not re-start. Unfortunately, most mechanics are not good at simple diagnostics these days.

While we can guide you though some of the simple stuff to try, and things to look for as clues to the issue - I suggest you check with local car clubs (any brand or type) for recommendations of a good and fair local mechanic that knows non-computer cars like yours. One that knows how to do simple diagnostics.

Do you have any mechanical experience or automotive tools?
