We are having a bear of a time getting the stop lights on our thunderbird to work. We currently have head and tail lights and sequential flashers but when we press the brake the stop lights don't activate at all. We have fire and new fuses in the fuse box and replaced the 4 wire relay in the trunk. On the steering column we get fire to the relay when we press the brake down but never any lights.

Please help what am I missing??

we took the small bag thing apart that holds the actual brake relay. we got fire to the center post and fire to one of them when we pushed the brake down but not to the other wire that we figure sends the signal out. would that mean the relay is bad? only replacements we have found are around 80 bucks.

Test the coil for continuity and check for a good ground path to the relay. You could also use a jumper to test the other wire to the brake lights. Unless you are trying to stay original any parts house will have a 12v relay.
