Are there any mechanical differences between the 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 and 67 Ford Galaxie XL being that the XL has a floor console shifter?

No..... Unless you are talking about the transmission linkage and some misc wiring. XL and LTD (despite what a certain header company is trying to tell me...) are just a different trim package of the Galaxie 500.

If it's anything like my 64 Galaxie, when I cloned her into an XL, changing the linkage bar at the trans was the only mechanical issue.

But, as said, I had to alter the wiring to accept additional interior lights, and wire around the neutral safety switch.
