I just dragged home a pretty rust free 1968 falcon, 6 cyl and auto. Has a good interior with what looks like reconditioned seats. door panels, headliner and kick panels have never been cut for speakers, it still has the stock radio. Engine is out of it, and it needs bodywork, but for the price I paid it was a nice score! I got it from a junkyard for scrap price! The same yard I picked up a 1970 Cougar for my friend for about the same amout (351C fresh!)

engine and trans are out, and had been sitting on the floor. HA! I rode home on the engine block as we flat towed it home.

Looks to have some damage on the front, and is missing a few things. Pans need a little help.

Looks to have been blue, but was painted white at some point.

I had almost the same car several years ago, and loved it (351W built pretty good) and I have regretted selling ever since. I figured this was my chance to get it back. I will post up photos probably tomorrow.

I have a good source for all the v8 swap parts, so I think I will swap in a v8 instead of going back to the straight 6 (the old engine swallowed a valve)

It needs a lot of help, but I think I can save it just like I saved the last one. I have most of the parts, but it is missing the hood hinges, wiper system, ignition (they CUT THE WIRES ) and other misc junk.
I only have a few shots, I will be adding a few of the inside as we go.

Where I found it

Flying falcon! :D

Home!

here are a few of my past falcons:

this was my baby here for awhile:

Ouch!

I wonder if the two are related...

and here is fixed...ish.

So far so good, I have been disassembling the car to paint it up and stop any rust. I think the car likes me :D everything seems to be coming along smoothly. Even better is so far the only rot is a few spots in the floor pan from wet sound deadening material.

Did a big glut of work on it before parking it again. I got the 9 inch rebuilt and set up with a 3.50 section with a detroit locker, got some stock 11 inch disk brakes for the front and put on crown vic interceptor rims and tires. Actually looks pretty nice. Bought all new upper and lower control arms and got it all sorted away for suspension and steering in the front. Also pulled out some wreck damage from some many years ago. It's on the mend, but now its in mothballs again until I get the urge for it again.

Over the last year and a half I got the car up and running, and started racing. The local track is not a true 1/8th mile (it's 515ft instead of 660), but it's still fun!

Car is a very basic setup. Junkyard 351w shortblock, some secondhand d4 351w heads with some 1.94 1.60 chev valves and the bowls cleaned up. Used 268H comp cam, Used Roller rockers, used performer RPM and a rebuilt 650DP
Junkyard 3g alt swap and a taurus fan to keep it cool
Cutouts for the track and some adjusta-jets with a wide band O2 sensor make life easy

Trans is the c4 I got with the damaged 6 banger. Shift kit/servo/2600-2900 jegs stall and a large cooler

9 inch with 31 spline jegs axles and locked 3.50's and some jegs slapper bars from a garage sale.

Two good runs on the falcon in this clip. First race and then again at 1.0 min. The 1.0 race was the best pass of the day. 6.80 @ 74.1 mph with a 1.71 60 foot time!!

Cool stuff..I ran a similar event a few years ago at our local stock car track although I think the track was even shorter and we had no timing equipment. It can get pretty interesting when the faster cars go flying into that corner at the end of the straight. My buddy flat spotted his front skinny's and just barely missed the guy in the other lane whom had drifted up high into his lane as they entered the corner! The guy carried way to much speed into the corner but refused to lift as it was a very close race.

Ha..yep. our track (newton speedway) has a 1/8th in the center..my dad's buddy has a datsun 280z w/390 c6 and a 6-71 blower. There's no room to slow down if you have anything halfway fast, he had a close call and called it quits.

Made it to a real drag strip this weekend.

Ran a best pass of 13.19 at 100.65 mph. 1.84 60 ft time.

I put 5 gallons of 110 in the car to see how it liked it... but I think that was a mistake, it made the engine feel a little lazy and not as rev happy towards the end of the track.

Cool. You don't know where you're going until you have some baselines to work from.

Yeah, that happens until you can increase the boost or add more nitrous. Then the rev-happy comes back real hard.
