I just purchased my first Galaxie. Its a 1968 XL with 390 2v motor. Id like to know more about how rare it is etc. I have the original build sheet and sales contract. Im planning a complete restoration so would be nice with some info from those in the know. Any advice on researching my vehicle would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much

Yeah +1 on the Marti report Galaxiex suggested. Costs a few bucks but will tell you everything you'd want to know and not just the year, make and model but about your specific vehicle with exact options etc.

As for general info there were 50,048 XL's produced that year. There was another 6,066 convertible XL models for a total of 56,114.

The top of the line LTD that year produced a total of 138,752 vehicles

Also for comparison in the 1968 Galaxie 500 model (which I own) there were 339,262 produced, 173,338 of which were 4-doors.

There were also station wagons but for that year your model was by far the least produced model. In the grand scheme of vintage cars it's not exactly a rarity but the numbers show it might be harder to come by for sure.
