i have a chance to get a good deal on an 83 mustang gt, 5.0 with a 5 speed, i know that will be carbureted but i was wondering about anything else thats different from the 87-93s? like does it have the 8.8 rear or just a 7.5?

My '83 came with a 7.5.

Aaron,

There is a website called 'mustangt.org'
that has all kinds of info on '82 to '93
Mustangs including the year to year changes
and options.

83 are nice cars, but have a few dissadvantages over there younger brothers, as stated brakes may not be as good, 7.5" rear, carburated non roller motor with cast iron exhaust manifolds and single exhaust, also the T-5`s rated for less torgue, it has a 10" flywheel and clutch. The good thing is all the short comings can be rectified with newer stuff. If it is a good runner and looks good inside and out you cant go wrong.
