with my new car this coming friday. Anyone want to guess what I'll run? Below is the setup installed in a 75 Ranchero. Weight is around 3600 pounds.

I built a .060 over 302 and C4 for it with the following goodies:

KB .200 dome pistons
edelbrock performer heads
victor jr intake
crane cams 363801 cam
full roller rockers
Hughes 3000 stall converter
Summit brand 3 chamber mufflers
summit brand headers (1.5 inch primaries)
msd 6al
3.89 gears w/ locker

Will be running on skinny street tires, but drag radials are in the near future. HOPING to run mid 14's with expected traction problems.

That is one heavy racer!! This is like racing a Fox Mustang with 2 of your heaviest buddies sitting in it. I'm saying 15.1 na at 97 mph assuming the 3600 pounds includes the driver. I'm also curious about how well that Victor jr intake will work with the small valve Edel heads.
I'm not saying it won't work well at the drags, I'm saying it is an unusual combination. What are the specs on that cam? What carb are you running? If your cam and carb can take advantage of that Vic Jr intake (like make power to 7K) you could break into the 14s. Bruce

The Ebrock heads valves could be either 2.02/1.60 or 1.90/1.60. He didn't specify but I wouldn't call either set small for a 308.Actually the intake port runners are the same size so there is very little difference in flow between the two. They should work well with the Victor intake if he's got the right cam and carb.I certainly wouldn't call it an unusual combo.I'm guessing you should be in the very low 14s at over 100mph,maybe better if traction and tuning are good.

You might break into the 13's just barely with good traction and a perfect tune.

As it sits, don't be surprised to make a 15.5 first run, but its got potential. I'm guessing 60's of about ~2-2.3 seconds.

Lose any weight you can on the car and you'll make some gains, plus the drag radials and a good carb tune/advance curve. Let us know how it goes!

frdnut, your right, I just checked the Summitt catalog and the Performer heads are availble with the big valves. I'm revising my estimate to 14.7 @ 101 if he's got the big valve heads. 3600 pounds is a lot of weight.

So what duration @ .050 would be best suited with a vic jr intake, 2.02/1.60 valved head & sorted holley 750dp if you going over the shelf cam with a est 12:5 cr domed bottom end in a c4'd, 4:10 reared 26x10.5 M/T 2600 pounder 1/4 0NLY car???
Sorry for the hi-jack......Thanx in advance.

3600lbs = a FOX stang with two of your heaviest buddies? what a rediculous statement. Most Foxes are about 3400 with someone in it so if you add "two HEAVIEST buddies",you get closer to 3900lbs or so. 3600lbs isnt THAT much for a street car IMO

cam specs are 222/234 @ .050, 278/290 adv, 498/520 lift. I know the intake is a bit big, and it'll likely get swapped for an air gap intake later.

Also, I built a 3800 pound truck with 69 model iron heads, 9 - 1 compression, regular performer intake, and stock headers off a mustang. If this new setup doesn't do atleast mid 14's as it sits now, I'll sell it.

I'm not new to drag racing, this is just my new setup.

edit - the truck went 15.02 @ around 90mph. I forgot to add that earlier.

bluelightning302, My 83 Mustang weighs 3030 ready to race with me in it. That's with 1 seat for the driver only and the rest of the plastic interior installed, no front sway bar, etc. The older ones might be lighter then the newer ones. That's what I mean by taking your two biggest buddies racing in a Fox Mustang. Some buddies are pretty big
no doubt, lets just say a couple of 250 pound buddies. Bruce
