The 302 240Z ran a best of 7.80/86.5 MPH with 1.643 60 foot last night at Irwindale's 1/8 mile. That's about a 12.24 1/4 mile time. Not too bad considering the mild motor and small 215/60R14 BFG Drag Radials.

Lost in the 2nd round of the "import" bracket to a Mercedes AMG Compessor(?) something-or-other.I cut a bad light and was surpised to see the Mercedes ran a 8.20/90MPH. That's pretty fast for a Mercedes but then again it probably cost more than my house when I bought it.

Yeah, those AMG's are pretty fast.
Did he have traction issues because he had a high 1/8 mile speed for an 8.20

Just looked at the time slip and the AMG had a 2.11 60 foot.
90MPH in the 1/8 should be about a 7.50 pass.

I have raced a fast Mercedes myself. This one was a big black 4 door sedan that was running 12.6's. No telling how much power it had to have to get that heavy car to run so fast. Great street sleeper.

Well, the biggest of the big AMG Mercedes come equipped with a twin turbo 6 liter V-12 that pump out 604 hp and 738 lb/ft of torque. Now, with a Kompressor badge, that means it was supercharged, not turbocharged, so the top output is 5.4 liter V8 with a mere 500 hp and 516 lb/ft of torque. Now, none of these engines are in particularly light cars, but even the smaller, less powerful V8 will certainly make a ≈4000 lbs E-class sedan get up and run.

There was a black AMG sedan at Kennedale last time I was there. Durn things are QUICK! It was beating me black and blue.

Oh wait. I was blue. It was black.

My friends cousin has way too much money an amazing car collection including one of those big black 600HP Mercedes. Recently while at a slalom track he decided to try his "Benz" against his Testarossa just for fun. The Benz won!

After a few laps the brakes on the Mercedes were smoking, but it clearly made way more power.

The AMG was a black 4 door. I'm pretty sure it was a E55 which has a 469HP 24valve 5.4 V8.

Even if I would have cut a decent light he still would have won 'cause the Datsun ran a breakout 7.805 on a 7.86 dial trying to catch the AMG.He ran a 8.206 on a 8.20. Not bad for a $81,000 bracket car.Ha.

All this Mercedes talk got us sidetracked from the performance of your car. Nice runs in the little 240 Jim!
I especially like that 60 footer. I need to get my 60's down in that range from my current string of 1.74's.
I used to run those little 215 BFG's and I thought they were great.
