N2O Mike just curious why you thought that cam was too big for my combo. The only difference is the 351 size valves versus my 302 size valves and I think I have a touch more compression. You recommended the XE-268 for mine while the comp cams guy recomended the XE-274.I just want to be sure I get the most performance possible. I was thinking of getting the larger valves but was going to change the cam instead,(costs about the same)What should I do?Sorry I know I'm from the old school bigger is better way of thinking but I don't want to be undercammed

Oops, you got me. I was just getting ready for bed, going off memory, and the head wasn't 100%.

I recommend the one with 224/230 @ 0.050" for up to around 6300-6500 rpm........ which would be the XE268.

If it's not going to be revved over 5800rpm, I'd even go with the XE262 which measures 218/224 @ 0.050".

Those factory tech guys are used to recommending cams for 350-400ci chevy engines, and will usually choose something too big for a 302.

Good Luck!
