Can 302 connecting rods go in a 289 with out and machining?

302 rods are identical to 289 rods except they are 1/16" shorter to compensate for the 1/8# longer stroke of the 302 (piston pin height is the same). So using 302 rods wil result in extremely low compression. It will also put the pistons 1/16" closer to the crank at the bottom of the stroke-don't know if they will hit or not.

though if you get pistons with 1/16" higher compression height it might work...

Unless the pistons hit the crank.
