I'm checking all clearances on my block before sending it to the machine shop for the "final" time. I read many stories about the crank clearance and confirmed that I'm in the clear. Yesterday, I installed the rods on all journals and found that a few rod bolts come as close as .040 from the base of the cylinder.
When this engine is cranking out 7500RPM, what should the clearance be?
As it looks with a piston in the hole, I could probably remove around 1/8-1/4" in the rod path.
