Hi Guys,

A quick question; I have just started the build of my 84' 351 Windsor 393 stroker & am using Tom Monroes "How to rebuild SBF". In his book he shows a crankshaft oil slinger being installed, (sits in between the crank timing sproket & harmonic balancer) however I dont recall seeing one of these when I tore-down the original block. Can anyone advise if I need to install a slinger or is it OK not to??

Any help greatly appreciated.
Martyn

Many later blocks did not come with one. Also many people run without it.

If your timing cover has an oil drain back ledge on the inside you shouldn't install a slinger. No ledge, run a slinger.
