Hi all, I found a set of 3514v closed chamber heads today, but each one has a different casting number. One is DOAE-N and the other is D1AE-GA. In a book that I have its say that they are both 61-64CC heads. Being different years, but the same size chambers can they go on the same engine can anyone vertify this. Second question when the book say 61-64CC does it mean that the combustion chamber can be anywhere in that range and its possibe to have an engine with 61CC on one side and 64CC on the other side?

That should be correct, and another good reason why people "cc" their heads. As long as they are both either open or closed chamber you should be OK. Boy would it run wierd with a quench head on one side and an open chamber on the other.

As cj said - also the chamber size can vary on the same head, so checking one is not typically good enough. I don't know that you could find a difference between DOAE and D1AE heads. PS - Opens are typically 76cc, I have one that's 69.

the tom munroe book i have shows 351c-2v 70-74 doae-e,j d1ae. 76.2cc volume. 351c-4v 70-71 doae-h,r 62.8cc volume. a couple of pages on there is avery good picture of an open and closed. open is used on the 2v,cj and 72 and later 4v heads. closed heads are on boss and early 4v engines.
