I need to recurve my distributor. I'm getting a slight ping at 2500 rpm. Initially, it was worse until I eliminated vacuum advance.
I would appreciate recommendations on total timing (at a stated rpm) and # degrees of initial vacuum advance. Here's my specs.

351C, 2V heads, 8.9:1 CR, 214/224 cam, dual plane intake, 600 vac sec, stock stall C4, 3.00 gears, 65 Fairlane DAILY driver. 12 deg initial timing (vac adv disconnected) on an Accel "blueprint" distributor (reman. Duraspark).
Thanks.

I've got almost an identical setup in my 351C, except that I use an remanufactured Ford dist with the Pertronix unit. My engine is a '70 with 9.5.1 CR. I re-curved the dist using both light springs and installed the Accel vacuum advance (adjustable with an alan wrench). I run 14-16 with 20 more coming in by 2800rpm. No knocks, no pings. I've even had as much as 18-20 initial and she still keeps humming nicely. I use Mobil 93 octane.
