I was wondering if any other FE engine besides te 427 came with cross bolted mains??? I was looking in my dads shop tonite and i found 2 that have cross bolts.I know we have some 352's and 390's but how do i tell if it is a 427 or not???? Thanks for your help guys !!!!!

There was only one other FE that had crossbolt mains....the late production 406's.

I have seen a few 390 blocks and 391 truck blocks that have the provisions cast into them for cross bolts, but were never machined from the factory.

I suppose that was for a "just in case we need it" type thing.

Check the #'s. Look for C2AE-J, C2AE-k or C2AE-V.
If they truly are 406's, they are the father of the 427 side oiler
But, if either of them has C2AE-BD.......it is a boat anchor and just to help you and your dad, I would gladly take it off your hands!
