The 351 is a better way to go because parts are way cheaper and there are more of them. A stroked 351 with aluminum heads weighs 40 lbs less than a 302. A 429 would be a boat anchor!! And the torque factors are excellent. if you do the right crank you can get rod ratios of 1.55-1 or better and 6.2 rods are available. I have a 427 cid stroker in my Futura wagon and it fits and runs just lovely. best engine I have ever used and the fuel economy is not as bad as you might think. With the right carb and cam combination, you could actually get fair to midland gas milage. It has also been a very dependable engine and I have built more than one that has run for over 100k miles! Just like any engine, you have to take care of it. The maintenance on a stroker is a bit more involved than a standard engine but the performance and power you receive in return is well worth it. Good luck with whatever you decide.
