I just purchased a 1979 Ford F 350 extended cab Trailer Special. The engine is a 460 and the transmission is a C6.
The 460 runs great, however, both stock exhaust manifolds sound loud. The sound does not appear to be coming from the donuts.
I do not see any cracks on the outside. The exhaust sounds like it is leaking on the back side or underneath.
How can I fix this? Does anyone make a shorty header for this application? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

First, grab a welding glove, start it up, and feel for where the leak is. Shut it down and look at the spot you found with a mirror. You should know exactly what's wrong then, and what options you may have to fix it.

Grind out a deep wide groove in the crack and get your oxy/ace and some bronze rods. Go ahead and get about two inches either side of crack glowing and fill ‘er in. My 302 ran for years like that and is now on my 351w in the ‘ole 67 f100 and still goin.
