I fired up a fresh 460 on my test stand today, It ran for just a short time before I noticed coolent running down the side of the block. I shut it down and inspected the issue, sure enough the coolent was seeping out of the headgasket area on both sides, in the rear of the engine. I've got three ideas of what went wrong, I've the block and heads have both been decked, so I don't think a warped surface is the issue. The first is, that perhaps I installed the head gasket upside down, would this cause it to leak? The second reason I can think of is that maybe since material has been taken off the block and heads, that the alignnment dowel is a bit too tall now. The final issue is that maybe the head bolts need sealer on them? This is the first 460 I've built, maybe I'm missing somthing? Anyone have any suggestion?

Just a thought Matt
You may have a miss match issue on the intake from milling the block and heads. you may have to mill the intake down to make up the differance or add a thicker gasket to the intake I'm not sure which way it may have gone... again just a thought I've heard of befor.. and a prob for milling the block and heads..

Another thought With the milling of the block and heads maybe your head bolts are to long now and bottoming out so your not getting them TQ down compleatly...
