[63.5xl]

I just pruchased a 63.5 galaxie 500 xl and the heater and the speedo cluster have a black background. I found another dash at a swap meet and bought it that the speedo and heater controls have a cream colored background. Just wondering what the cream colored background dash came out of.

As far as I know, the '63 was black, the '64 was the lighter color.

63 was black and 64 was argent(silver). If it is cream maybe it was argent and it's been stained by cigarette smoke. Seen that before.

took it apart ,new lenses & bezels..cleand thing up...

then gave it the poorman's chrome job....
Mother's metal polish and a whole lots a elbow grease.....

made a big diffrence in apperance along with refinished dashboad....

BTW- Did you see the post where a guy fitted a 64 MERC instrument panel. He inserted aftermarket gauges?

i acctually have that speedo..and maybe its the same post you seen...
i did some test fitting..
and it lookes as it can be fitted to galaxie dash really easy...
it will be a future project...then install new style small gauges .at .oil,temp,fuel,volt location..
also trim out a small section in center between small gauges to fit a mini tach....
