I have a 63 ranchero that was an original 260 V8 and I replaced the motor and trans with a 302/C4 combo and rebuilt the front suspension with new nos parts except for the coil springs and shocks. I bought after market springs and gas shocks. The car rides like a tank, really stiff. I would like to put back my original springs but I sold them(dumb) I looked up in my ford interchange parts book and it says that 64-65 mustang front coil springs are the same as the 63/V8 falcons. True or false? If true can you purchase original spring tension values. Can my gas shocks contribute to the stiff ride, if so what shocks should I use? Thanks, Harold Pickett

Yes, they are the same. You can try Mustangs Plus or National Parts Depot for starters. You can get a whole variety of spring rates. But I believe they still might be slightly stiffer than your worn in 40 year old originals (the ones you threw away).
You did not say what gas shocks you got, if they are KYB's the whites will give you a stiffer ride than the silver ones. The blue Monroe shocks I believe are oil dampened and are the closest you might be able to get to the stock ride, can't say much for them on performance. It is a compromise.

Just did a search for something and this site poped up. Don't know who they are seem to deal with old parts and have Falcon stuff. Some of the items they have look a little pricey but a used set of coils they have listed for 66.00.
Good luck.
