Hi, all,

I recently purchased a '63 convertible and she has a number of electrical issues. The most pressing is the headlights not functioning. They suddenly turned off while I was driving, and after I pushed/pulled the headlight switch and/or hit the high beams a few times they came back on. This happened a total of four times over the course of 300 miles or so. The last time, they stayed off for good. The fog lamps work, and the taillights come on when the headlights are engaged. I had the dash off tonight. Looks like original wiring.

Any advice? Thanks!

May be a bad light switch? There is a built in circuit breaker in the light switch that will trip when overloaded and will reset when it cools off.
There could also be a wire contacting the radiator support somewhere if the wiring is old original stuff it could have worn a bear spot.

Thanks--I'll check the wiring out and maybe try a new switch.

I agree with (one 37 tudor).. I had the same problem with our 63. Changed the light switch and everything is fine now.BUT then again ours is not all eletric. GOOD LUCK!!!!

It was actually a bad high beam switch. Go figure. At least all the contacts in the headlight switch are clean now!
