I need a new carpet in the 64.
Just wondering how far above the steering column do the standard aftermarket molded carpets go to.
There,s no heater ect. in the gal so a fair amount of the firewall area is visible.
Who makes the best pre-molded carpets or are they all pretty much the same?

I ordered mine from Greg Donahue. He stated his carpets are made by the original manufacturer to original specs. The carpet fit perfectly and looks great.

Are you installing the firewall pad? I think the original carpet either tucks under it a little or just meets it, but together looks fine.

Firewall pad? Would that be a kind of black cardboard or is it foam type thingo.Either way, the gals got nothing but painted steel.
Wonder if anyone makes a repro one.

Can anyone post a firewall pic so I know what I,m missing?

It has a grain (black) look to it and it looks like or even is fiberglass insulation (yellow) on the inside. For the 64 it comes in 2 sections and seperates at the heater motor area. Many make repro, but some are more $$$ than others ranging from $59-$119. All parts places, Greg Donohue, Auto Krafters Dearborn etc. have them. Sorry, no pics, but they have them on their websites.

I,ve done a bit of research and its gonna work out much cheaper for me to get an upholsterer to make up new carpets.
I would have to have the repro ones modified to work with the shifter cables,wires and RHD anyway. Oh well, the car,s off the road at the moment anyway.
