I an in the process of piecing together a shifter handle for my 64 Sprint. Can changing the reverse lockout be accomplished without sending it out to someone. Think i'm going to go with BW T-10 4 Speed to keep numbers matching. Probably put my Narrow pattern 28 spline Toploader on E-Pay. Any help will be appreciated. This is my first experience with Falcon restoration. I'm an old dirt track racer and feel competent with mechanical repair. But i don't know Jack about these shift handles.

I believe the lower part of the cable is "silver soldered" to the the lock-out pawl(?) thats recessed into the bottom of the handle. Heat it up and melt the solder and you should be able to remove that pawl and pull the ears straight up out of the handle.
Good luck and post a few pics of the work.

BTW either the T10 or the Toploader are correct for your car. Toploader is preferred because all the parts are available and some say its stronger.
