I am tired of fighting the OEM steering pump. Rebuilt it, since you can't buy a direct replacement, and it still makes noice occasionally and leaks. Has anyone replaced it with a new model and if so how much work was it? Thanks in advance for any replies.

I replaced mine with a new model because I got tired of same issues. I also bought a whole new serpentine pulley set up. You can replace just the pump but the model I got is expensive. Here's a link-

Tried NAPA, they told me I could only get the rebuild kit. Might have to try again. Gotta love the one you put on yours Fakesnake!! Might be an option but I will have to wait until the final bill racks up for the 433 stroker. Already up just under $500.00 from the original est. and the parts haven't showed up yet. :^) Ford FE F*@#ing Expensive

Yes, I am running the later model pump on my ‘64 Galaxie. I am using the ‘67 pulley and bracket setup, including A/C. The pump pressure hose for the ‘64 is female and the later pumps are male. You can have a new pressure hose made up to fit the new type pump or get some fittings which will allow you to use the current ‘64 style hose. I am not running any type of pressure reducer in the system and have been running it that way since 1991. Hope this helps. Norm

I use the power steering pump, brackets, crank pulley, and water pump pulley off a 74 Mercuy 390, use the original hose's with union to mate with the new pump over a year ago and have not had any problems.

I am running a rack and pinion so it makes it a lot easier too.

Here is a place if you want to tackle having someone rebuild yours.

Alot of food for thought! I like the idea of a 74' setup. I'll have to see where a guy can get the brackets and stuff. Any ideas?
