Have any of you taken apart the vent window and especially the frame to it? I want to get the chrome redone and was wondering if the stainless piece comes off the chrome part? The stainless piece is the door glass run channel or something, please help.

yes ....only sitting with few rivets.

So I have to drill out the rivets then re-rivet, correct? Just wanna make sure.

Yes you do. And there are no replacement oem rivets. You have to go to the hardware store and find some thing that will work. Did mine 2 years ago. They look much better but it was a little bit of a pain in the a$$ re-riveting.

It's just a bitch because they are so close to bieng ok, but I've spared no expenses so far. Will do then. Thanks for the help guys.

you shoulda seen me this morning taking them apart. The rivets I drilled out were still not budging til wham, it let go and the heavy front rounded piece on the very front of the vent window smashed me in the face real hard. My nose feels like crap, very soar and my upper lip keeps bleeding. I usually get real mad and throw or beat things but in my hands were two hard to replace items so I smartened up. Damn that still hurts, goin to look nice though- bright side.

Believe me, 4 years in 2 body shops, yesterday hurts less than my butt right about now. Paint/body work is my crytonite. Also learned how to really drink. It's worth it from what I hear.
