I'm mostly having trouble shifting into reverse. It seems like it's grinding sometimes when I try to go into reverse and sometimes its hard to find 1st gear. Any ideas on what the issue could be?
this is what my clutch was looking like when I put everything back together not long ago. Its not new, but it looks to me like its got some life left
I was thinking it could be the clutch rod, but wouldn't i have the same issue with all gears and when in gear wouldn't it wanna roll with the clutch pushed in?
The only thing that would cause your problem is the input shaft is still turning. The pilot bearing is dry or the clutch is still engaged enough to turn input shaft. The pressure plate could have springs that are worn more the others. Heat does a number on these. Hope that helps.
If this is happening from a stand still car in neutral, a slight grind is normal if you just put your foot on the clutch, Reverse has no synchronizer. If the car is rolling forward slightly it will definitely happen for the same reason. Try putting it in a forward gear before reverse.
