I'm planning on replacing my current worn out steering box on my 66 Mustang. I have manual steering. I've read a couple messages praising Flaming River's new steering box. Has anyone had any experience using a "rebuilt" steering box from either a Mustang vender or from an auto parts chain? What are your opinions on the rebuilt boxes?

I got mine from Scott Drake in Oxnard, CA.(805) 988-9992. Check 'em out, mine works fine, good price also.

Thanks for the reply.
Did you buy direct from Scott Drake or through another vender? If another vender, who? Are these rebuilds? And did they require a core? How much play in your steering wheel now?

Global West rebuilt my steering box over 10 years ago and it worked much better afterwards. These days you can get new or rebuilt steering at many places. Flaming river has gotten good pres on theirs. I have seen nothing negative about them.

Then, you could go the best way and get a tCP rack & pinion. Expensive, but the best steering of all.
