I posted this in the Fairlane section but also hope someone here can help. I am installing a 289 in place of a 6 cylinder. I was sent the throtle linkage w/ gas pedal assy from some classic place from Texas. This car is also an automatic. The setup that was sent from out of state the is supose to be correct does not look correct. Can some one post pictures for me of the carb and trans kickdown linkage so I know what it should look like.

The place in texas called back and they said they pulled the linkage for a stick shift car not automatic and will send me the correct part. I got impatient and cut the kickdown lever off the 6 cyl linkage setup and rewelded it to the v8 linkage setup and it worked perfect. Now that the engine is installed the headers hit the trans shift rod. Why dont they make headers that fit?

The throttle assembly has a arm that extends down to the bottom of the firewall and has an eyelet on the end.
A cable approximately 8 inches long connects to the eyelet and then hooks up to the kickdown lever on the trans.

The mail order places have the cable you need.

Hope this helps ?
